to leave their homes to leave their kingdoms
to worship a king they sought.

They came for the hope of salvation.

2. It was to Herod that first they went
Inquiring of this King.
But leaving by a diff’rent way
In joy gave hastening.

3. Herod with fear enjoined the priests
Where should the Christ be born.
O little town of Bethlehem
A savior greets the morn.

4. Tribute they gave to a little babe
This manger scene behold.
To Bethlehem a newborn king
Myrrh, frankincense and gold.

5. Oh troubled city of David’s birth
Your infant tears are heard.
